Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 Beta 1 (Yakkety Yak) Download Now Available in ISO And Torrent Files
After being in development for months, the Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 operating system has been released and users can download Beta 1 ISO files.
Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 Beta 1 has been released as part of theย Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak launch.ย The Ubuntu flavors taking part in the Beta 1 milestone include Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu MATE, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, andย Ubuntuย Kylin. Xubuntu has decided to skip the Beta 1 release.
Yakkety Yak’s release coincides with the fact that Linux celebrated a 25th birthday yesterday. The distro is in beta phase and you may encounter many bugs during its installation. “Pre-releases of the Yakkety Yak are not encouraged for anyone needingย a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running intoย occasional, even frequent breakage. They are, however, recommended forย Ubuntu flavor developers and those who want to help in testing,ย reporting and fixing bugs as we work towards getting this bos grunniensย ready.ย Beta 1 includes a number of software updates that are ready for widerย testing. These images are still under development, so you should expectย some bugs”, saysย Set Hallstrรถm,ย Ubuntu Studio project lead.
Hallstrรถm further says, “while these Beta 1 images have been tested and work, except as noted inย the release notes, Ubuntu developers are continuing to improve theย Yakkety Yak. In particular, once newer daily images are available,ย system installation bugs identified in the Beta 1 installer should beย verified against the current daily image before being reported inย Launchpad. Using an obsolete image to re-report bugs that have alreadyย been fixed wastes your time and the time of developers who are busyย trying to make 16.10 the best Ubuntu release yet. Always ensure yourย system is up to date before reporting bugs”.
