Roku’s premium subscriptions are now available

Premium Subscriptions Arrive On The Roku Channel

Earlier this month, Roku, the set-top box company, had announced that Premium Subscriptions would arrive on its own free TV and movies hub, The Roku Channel by the end of late January. This would allow the customer the option to add Premium Subscriptions from SHOWTIME, STARZ, EPIX and more.

Starting January 28, 2019, Roku has begun a phased rollout of Premium Subscriptions within The Roku Channel on select Roku devices. The Roku Channel has a library of more than 10,000+ free ad-supported movies, TV shows, news, sports, and entertainment.

“We’re making subscription streaming easy and putting you in control. With Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel you have the ability to browse all available content before signing-up, you get free trials for all subscriptions,” said Rob Holmes, Roku’s vice president of Programming, in a company blog post.

Premium subscriptions can be set up with a single click. Those who subscribe to premium content via Roku Channel will be charged to a single monthly bill, which makes it easy to handle different subscriptions.

Once the Roku device is updated, users will have access to 25 Premium Subscriptions within The Roku Channel including services like SHOWTIME, STARZ, and EPIX. Additional services include CollegeHumor’s DROPOUT, CuriosityStream, FitFusion, Lifetime Movie Club, NOGGIN, Smithsonian Channel Plus, and Tastemade. You can check out the full list of Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel here.

Further, users who sign-up for SHOWTIME, STARZ or EPIX before March 31st will enjoy a 30-day free trial of those services on The Roku Channel. Also, mobile app viewing of The Roku Channel is now available on iOS devices. However, viewing of The Roku Channel on Android devices will roll out in phases beginning in mid-February. Interested customers can also stream The Roku Channel online by signing up through therokuchannel.com.
