Qualcomm’s New Charging Tech Will Fuel Your Phone From 0-50% In 5 Mins

Charging for half an hour to use your device has become a thing of the past. Qualcomm is here to push the boundaries further towards the good pole up north.

The San Diego based Tech giant wants to push the envelope with the all-new Quick Charge 5 technology that claims to recharge a standard device’s battery from 0 to 50% in under 5 mins, and the full charge being just 15 mins away.

Better than the Predecessor?

The company iterates precisely on that. Quick Charge 5 is being claimed to have 70% more efficient than its immediate predecessor. Moreover, it will provide up to four-times charging speed while running on 10 degree celsius cooler even its peak usage.

Behind the Scenes: The Tech

All the smartphones with Quick Charge 5 support will receive a higher input voltage of 20V, both from wired and wireless.

Backward compatibility is a complex and rampant issue in the smart devices space. Quick Charge 5 might be the saviour in disguise with the backward compatibility for accessories and many devices.

The move will benefit over 1200 smartphones and accessories that can leverage the newer tech.

Rumours have it, Quick Charge 5 might ship with an in-built USB Power Delivery Power Supply that can be programmed to control voltage and current levels.
