OnePlus launched a new pair of Truly Wireless earphones, the Buds Z at an online event held on Wednesday.
Each earbud is equipped with an advanced 10mm dynamic driver to provide richer vocals and deeper bass. This, according to OnePlus, works in collaboration with bass boosting technology and dynamic 3D stereo powered by Dolby Atmos in order to deliver a richer audio experience. It also supports Dirac Audio Tuner digital technology, and panoramic sound fidelity to assist 3D stereo.
The weight of each OnePlus Buds Z earbud is 4.35 grams, and the charging case weighs 40 grams. Further, the refined in-ear ergonomic design and 3 bud sizes (S, M and L) ensure a perfect fit for maximum comfort and convenience. It also features silicone ear tips for passive noise cancellation.
According to OnePlus, “on a full charge, the OnePlus Buds Z provide an impressive 20 hours of playback time, while a quick 10-minute top-up provides three hours of vibrant audio.” The 20-hour number includes the charging case; on a single charge, each earbud will have a battery life of 5 hours. Also, a single headset has a 35mAh battery capacity and a 420mAh charging box. The headset along with the charging box can be used for up to 30 hours and supports the Type-C charging interface.
The OnePlus Buds Z supports advanced Bluetooth 5.0 technology, environmental noise reduction for voice pickup and Quick Pair to deliver exceptional sound when taking a conference call, watching a movie or simply enjoying music on the go. It also has touch controls to wake Google Assistant or play/pause music.
Further, there are additional features exclusively for OnePlus users, which includes an ultra-low latency mode of 103ms when using Gaming Mode on an OnePlus smartphone. It also supports the ‘Quick Switch’ feature, which can help you quickly switch between the two most recently paired devices. All you need to do is hold down on either earbud for three seconds to hop between them.
The OnePlus Buds Z come with an impressive IP55 rating that provides outstanding water and sweat resistance. The hydrophobic nano-coating repels water providing protection from corrosion. It also has a “HeyMelody” app feature that tells the status of your battery life, firmware update, and more. Based on your preferences, you can customize the double-tap functions in the app.
OnePlus is also bringing a unique collaboration with California-based visionary artist and designer, Steven Harrington. The “Cool Cat” special edition colorway reflects his bright, iconic style infused with a California-inspired pop aesthetic, bringing his iconic characters to life.
Starting November 2nd, the OnePlus Buds Z in White will be available for purchase from OnePlus.com and Amazon for $49.99 in the U.S. and $69.99 in Canada. Further, it will also be available in the UK for £55 starting on November 4th. The special-edition variant will be available for purchase at a later date.
