HTC Launches VIVE Pro 2 And VIVE Focus 3 VR Headsets With 5K Resolution

HTC VIVE, the global leader in premium virtual reality (VR), on Tuesday, launched two new VR headsets, VIVE Pro 2 And VIVE Focus 3 at the VIVECON 2021, HTC’s global VR conference.

VIVE Pro 2 pushes the boundaries of PC VR for incredible gaming, creating, and experiences, while VIVE Focus 3 redefines business VR with a purpose-built All-in-One with no compromises.

Here is the detailed specifications, pricing and availability date of of HTC’s VIVE Pro 2 and VIVE Focus 3 VR headsets.

HTC VIVE Pro 2:

VIVE Pro 2 comes with a resolution of 2448 × 2448 pixels per eye (4896 x 2448 pixels combined) or as HTC calls it, 5K. It has dual RGB low persistence LCD screens.

Further, it has an ultra-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 120-degree field-of-view (FoV). It also supports a 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rate (only 90Hz supported via VIVE Wireless Adapter).

VIVE Pro 2 VR headphones utilize Display Stream Compression, which ensures maximum visual quality.

It is also backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.2, so even graphics cards that supported VIVE Pro will see a benefit with VIVE Pro 2.

The headset has a fine-adjustable inter-pupillary distance (IPD), evenly distributed weight balance, adjustable head strap, and a quick-adjustable sizing dial.

It has 3D spatial sound with Hi-Res Audio Certified headphones and supports third-party headphones.

The device comes with integrated dual microphones and Bluetooth for connectivity as well as a USB-C port for peripherals.

In terms of sensors, VIVE Pro 2 features G-sensor, gyroscope, proximity, IPD sensor, SteamVR Tracking V2.0 (compatible with SteamVR 1.0 and 2.0 base stations).

For upgraders, VIVE Pro 2 in the headset-only version is now available for pre-order. VIVE is running a special promotion during the pre-order period, offering a discount for those who want to upgrade – making VIVE Pro 2 available for £659 / $749 / €739.

The full-kit VIVE Pro 2, which includes Base Station 2.0 and VIVE Controllers will be available from June 4th for £1299 / $1399 / €1399.

VIVE Focus 3 has a 5K resolution with dual 2.5K displays, a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, and an ultra-wide 120-degree field of view.

It is powered by the premium-quality Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, which has twice the CPU and GPU performance compared to Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile XR platform.

The device features dual 2.88-inch LCD panels with a resolution of 2448 × 2448 pixels per eye (4896 x 2448 pixels combined) or as HTC calls it, 5K.

VIVE Focus 3 comes with dual microphones with echo cancellation, 2x dual driver with patented directional speaker design, Privacy Mode, and Hi-Res Certified 3.5mm audio jack output.

There are two integrated microphones as well as a headset button. It delivers superior comfort, with a new strap design, balanced weight distribution, and an intelligently designed curved battery pack, which is swappable.

The headset boasts of a copper heat pipe and cooling fan, which always keep it cool under pressure. It features the all-new VIVE Reality System 2.0, which delivers a more streamlined and professional environment.

VIVE Focus 3 is backed by a 26.6Whr battery, which is removable and swappable. It claims to provide up to 15 hours of battery life and charge via a USB Type-C port.

Quick charge gives 50% battery from just 30 minutes of charging, and an L.E.D indicator suggests how much power is left.

Durable and lightweight, the magnesium alloy frame of VIVE Focus 3 is 20% lighter and 500% stronger than traditional plastics.

It has a wide range and fine-adjustable Inter Pupillary Distance range, as well as a quick-release button and easily removable magnetic front and rear face gasket, making them easier to remove and clean.

The front gasket and rear padding attach magnetically, which makes it easy to remove and clean them. There is a 150mm-wide facial interface that accommodates wide eyeglasses and eye comfort adjustment supporting an IPD range of 57mm to 72mm.

On the connectivity front, VIVE Focus 3 includes two USB 3.2 Gen-1 Type-C peripheral ports (External USB-C port supports USB OTG), Bluetooth 5.2 + BLE, and Wi-Fi 6. It has four tracking cameras, G-sensor, Gyroscope, and a Proximity sensor.

The controllers for the VIVE Focus 3 have hall sensors on trigger and grip buttons, and capacitive sensors on the trigger, joystick, and thumb-rest area.

HTC Vive Focus 3 will be available on sale from June 27th for £1060 / $1300 / €1180.
