Google Play Games On PC Adds New Titles, Features & Regions

Google Play Games on Tuesday announced four big updates to its PC Beta, which include the addition of new games, expansion to new regions, accessibility on more PCs, and a new feature to make gameplay easier.

For those unaware, Google Play Games Beta on PC allows players to easily browse, download, and play mobile games on their PCs, which enables them to take advantage of larger screens and improved controls with mouse and keyboard inputs.

“Today we’re announcing four big updates to Google Play Games Beta on PC, which gives you access to mobile games on more devices,” Arjun Dayal, Director of Product, Google Play Games, announced in a blog post.

“Taking into account feedback from players and developers around the world, we’ve added hundreds of new games, expanded to new regions, made it accessible for more players, and rolled out a new feature to make gameplay even easier.”

Here’s what you need to know about the four big updates:

Hundreds Of Gaming Titles, Including Free Fire MAX

The beta now includes hundreds of gaming titles, including popular titles like Cookie Run: Kingdom, Eversoul, Summoners War, Homescapes, Evony: The King’s Return, Call of Dragons, and Arknights.

However, one of the newest addition, ‘Free Fire MAX’, is now available in Malaysia and Taiwan and is expected to launch in more regions in the coming weeks.

Further, as game progress and libraries are synced across phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and PCs, users can easily switch between devices during gameplay and continue from where they left off.

Expansion To New Regions

Google Play Games was launched on PCs as a beta experience in a limited number of markets in January 2022. However, the product was expanded to more players in Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Australia in August 2022.

Further, in November 2022, Google Play Games beta was made available for download to all players in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The beta version is now available in over 120 regions around the world after expanding to over 60 additional new regions across Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America.

Accessible On More PCs

To make Google Play Games available to as many players as possible, the search giant has opened up beta access to “hundreds of millions more PCs by reducing hardware restrictions” to allow users to explore mobile gaming on a PC.

To participate in the beta, the PC must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Windows 10 (v2004)
  • Solid state drive (SSD) with 10 GB of available storage space
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU or comparable
  • 4 CPU physical cores (some games require an Intel CPU)
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • Windows admin account
  • Hardware virtualization must be turned on

Keyboard Remapping Support

Google has added keyboard remapping capabilities to allow users to customize which keys they want to use as controls and match them to their gameplay preferences.
