WhatsApp has introduced new features for group calls, which make the group calls a whole lot easier to organize โ and more engaging.
The Meta-owned messaging platform has introduced call scheduling, which allows users to set a date and time for group calls with friends or colleagues โ all without leaving the Calls tab. Simply tap the โ+โ button, select Schedule Call, and choose the date, time, and whether it will be an audio or video call.
You can invite individuals or entire groups, and even share a call link or add the event to your personal calendar. When the time comes, WhatsApp will send reminders to all participants so no one misses the conversation.
Keeping Calls On Track
The Calls tab now shows all your scheduled calls with a list of attendees, making it easier to manage whoโs joining. Once scheduled, calls appear in the Calls tab under upcoming events. WhatsApp sends a notification to the participants shortly before the call begins, so no one misses out.
If you have shared a call link, you will get a notification whenever someone joins via that link โ making it perfect for tracking late arrivals.
More Ways To Participate
The update also introduces a hand raise feature for participants. During a call, participants can now โraise their handโ to signal they would like to speak, helping avoid people talking over each other. There is also a new emoji reactions feature for responding without interrupting the flow of conversation โ perfect for showing agreement or adding a quick laugh.
Privacy Still Comes First
As always, WhatsApp says all personal calls remain protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring that the userโs conversations remain private and secure.
The update for group calls is rolling out to users around the world and is expected to be available to everyone in the coming days.
