Samsung launches 3D Vertical NAND sporting Portable SSD T1 for Rs.12000 in India

3D Vertical NAND (V-NAND) sporting Portable SSD T1 starting from Rs 12,000 launched by Samsung

On Tuesday, Samsung launched the Portable SSD T1 portable drive in India. It is external portable solid state drive featuring 3D vertical NAND (V-NAND) memory technology. The Samsung Portable SSD T1 comes in three storage variants. The 250GB comes at Rs 12,000, the 500GB variant is priced at Rs 18,000 and the 1TB variant comes at Rs 35,000. These drives will come with a 3-year warranty.

SSD drives are quicker than regular hard disks and also a little bit safer to carry around since they have stationary parts. Samsung is proclaiming speeds that are up seven times quicker than a regular hard drive.

The SSD weighs around 30 grams and comes with a black chrome metal finish. Targeting creative professionals and business travelers, the Portable SSD T1 comes with 256-bit hardware encryption, the Samsung Portable SSD T1 is powered by company’s 3D Vertical NAND (V-NAND) technology and is shock resistant up to 1500/0.5ms.

Samsung Portable SSD T1 offers 450MBps read/write speeds with USB 3.0 and a random read/write speeds of up to 8,000 inputs/ outputs per second (IOPS) and 21,000 IOPS, respectively. According to the company’s claims, the device also features Dynamic Thermal Guard, which gets stimulated in extreme temperature to safeguard the hard disk.

The Samsung Portable SSD T1 is compatible with both Windows and Mac PCs using the exFAT file system, removing the problem of having to reformat for every type of computer.

Anuj Jain, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Business, Samsung India Electronics Ltd. on the launch of the Samsung Portable SSD T1 said “We live in a digital age and with the proliferation of smart devices, the need for storage is on a rapid rise. We needed to think beyond the existing storage options and provide our consumers with mobility, capacity and security of performance. The Samsung Portable SSD T1 helps users manage their data on the go, offering faster speeds and saving precious time of the users.”

Earlier this year, Samsung Portable SSD T1 was first announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Samsung Portable SSD T1 will be available on popular e-commerce websites such as Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and will soon be available at local retail stores.
