Samsung’s upcoming tablet Galaxy Tab S2 details and specifications leaked

Take a first look at the leaked press render of the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet

The rumors that had started many months ago mentioned the next generation Galaxy Tab S products. It was particularly said that Samsung would be using a 4:3 aspect ratio, premium materials (a metal frame preferably) and the greatest and latest specs. With the weeks passing by, the leaked render discloses a design that resembles to that of the Galaxy Tab A, with a metal frame bordering the sides of the tablet.

These leaks were revealed via @onleaks. It seems like the Galaxy Tab S2 features a physical home button (which may also work as a fingerprint sensor), with the power and volume buttons on the right hand side. In addition, the microSD and SIM-card slots are also on the right side of the tablet.

The recent leaks also hint that the Galaxy Tab S2 will be offered in 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants. The Tab S2 series comes with an 64-bit octa-core Exynos processor. It is expected to feature QHD SuperAMOLED screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 (in a 4:3 ratio like the Nexus 9). The device will include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage with microSD support up to 128GB. Category 6 LTE will be supported on cellular models. The 8-inch model will consist of a 3,580 mAh battery, while the 9.7 inch model will have a 5,870 mAh battery. According to the leaks, both the models are expected to have an 2.1 front camera and 8 megapixel rear camera. Software-wise, the Galaxy Tab S2 will run Android 5.0 out of the box.

Samsung will offer the Galaxy Tab S2 in Wi-Fi only and LTE-enabled variants, like the Galaxy Tab S series. It looks like all versions will be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos processor.

Assuming this is the final product, it raises an odd question in one’s mind coming: why does a premium device like S2 resemble a baseline-budget one? Or are we missing the possibility of a glass back or something like that? Would the Samsung products released later this year look similar to the S6?

The successor to the high-end Galaxy Tab S series, Samsung’s upcoming tablets will reportedly be announced in the month of June. However, there is no official confirmation confirming the forthcoming launch of the tablets.
