2016 has passed and so as the Apple’s iPhone 7 and now with the new year we await the next iPhone version from Apple. We had recently reported that Apple is working on a prototype dubbed as iPhone 8, which is rumored to sport a flexible OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display technology. We had also mentioned that the Cupertino giant is rumored to be experimenting with curved glass that wraps around the smartphone.

Now, according to the latest report by the Korea Herald, the iPhone 8 will be shipping with a plastic OLED display produced by arch-enemy Samsung that curves ‘all over’ instead of the all-glass design. The OLED display is expected to have highly improved picture quality and will also be lighter and thinner than conventional screens.

“The OLED version of the new iPhone will all be curved as Apple ordered all plastic OLED — not glass — from Samsung Display. Samsung is capable of supplying a little less than 100 million units of curved OLED displays to Apple,” a source familiar with the matter told The Korea Herald. “Samsung is capable of supplying a little less than 100 million units of curved OLED displays to Apple. The upcoming iPhone may use new sensing technology, which enables the phone to respond when users touch any side of the device. But, Apple may not adopt this technology.”

As for other rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 2017 will have wireless charging enabled, no physical Home button, embedded Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and edge-to-edge bezel-less display.

The report also appears to confirm previous rumors that Apple will be introduced three phone models in 2017. The reports also suggests that Apple will launch three designs – a flagship model with the curved screen and two that more closely resemble the current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
