Fappening redux: Private pictures and videos of Emma Watson and other celebrities leak online

In what seems to a repeat of the famous Fappening or Celebgate of 2014, unknown hackers leaked nude images and videos of Harry Potter star, Emma Watson and other celebrities like Mischa Barton, Amanda Seyfried. The private and explicit photos and videos were apparently stolen from Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried, and other female celebrities iCloud accounts or private albums. The hackers have then proceeded to post the NSFW images and videos on the popular imageboarding website, 4chan and also Reddit.

As of now, the source of the leaks have not been confirmed but many are saying that the leaked images belong to the 2014 Fappening saga. In fact, it is highly possible that the images are from a collector. Private groups of phisher/hacker collectors were also involved in the Fappening/celebgate.

The newly released nude photo leaks draw comparisons to a 2014 hack, grossly dubbed “The Fappening” that exposed nude photos and video of several celebrities. The hacker, in that case, Ryan Collins, obtained the pictures from iCloud accounts via a phishing scheme and was sentenced last fall to 18 months in prison.

The current tranche of images ranges from benign snapshots from clothing fittings to sexually explicit material. Several of the posts alleged that photos of other women might be leaked, as well

Emma Watson’s publicist said that the actress was contemplating on legal action against the leakers. “Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen,” Watson’s publicist explained in an e-mail to Time. “They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further.”

It is not known whether the hackers will leak any further tranches of the nude celebrity pic. Remember back in 2014, the iCloud hacker leaked the images in tranches every Friday.
