Google and Udacity offering scholarships to 75,000 aspiring developers

Google Is Offering 75,000 Web And Android Scholarships

There is some good news for all those aspiring developers looking to make a career in coding or already pursuing coding.

Google in partnership with Udacity are now offering 75,000 Android and Web Development scholarships for aspiring developers and data scientists looking to follow careers in the digital field.

Over the past two years, Google and Udacity have been able to roll out 1,000 and 10,000 scholarships for coders in 2015 and 2016, respectively. This year, German media company Bertelsmann too will be involved in their latest initiative.

“We were humbled by the overwhelming demand for these courses, so I’m happy to announce that together with Bertelsmann & Udacity we’ll be offering 75,000 more people the opportunity to benefit from free developer courses,” said Google’s EMEA President Matt Brittin. “Through this campaign, Google hopes to make up for the growing gap in digital skills and reduce the worries of the EU. Previously, the EU said there would be 500,000 vacancies in information and communication technology by 2020.”

The first batch of 60,000 scholarships are open for application, wherein the scholarship-related courses will focus on Android and Web development. However, these scholarships are only available to residents of Europe, Russia, Egypt, Israel, and Turkey.

The remaining 15,000 scholarships will be offered by Bertelsmann that will include courses in data science at both beginner and intermediate level. More details on how to register will be available in the coming weeks.
