Amazon, the leading e-commerce platform, has launched a free video streaming service ‘miniTV’ within the main Amazon app for users in India.
The streaming service is free and currently available only on Amazon app for Android devices. The iOS and web version is reportedly coming soon.
To access miniTV, you need to click on miniTV banner found on the Amazon appโs home page. You might have to scroll the home section a bit to find it.
Once clicked, it directs users to miniTV section inside the app.
The streaming service offers various categories in English and 9 other Indian regional languages ranging from comedy shows, lifestyle videos, and web series, which can be found at the bottom of the Android screen.
Amazon has partnered with TVF, Pocket Aces, as well as comedians, including Amit Bhadana, Ashish Chanchlani, Harsh Beniwal, Shruti Arjun Anand, Elvish Yadav, Aakash Gupta Prajakta Koli, and several personalities for fashion, tech, Food and cooking related videos.
The company is also said to be in talks with several other studios and celebrities to bring more content to miniTV.
โWith the launch of miniTV, Amazon.in shopping app is now a single destination for customers to shop from millions of products, make payments and watch free entertainment videos,โ Amazon said in its official blogpost.
In Settings, the company has added parental controls to miniTV for viewing based on maturity and age rating. The two options available are โUnrestrictedโ and โRestrictedโ viewing.
โUnrestrictedโ viewing shows videos for all ages, while โRestrictedโ viewing displays only videos that are suitable for children younger than 13 years.
To enjoy miniTV for free, all you need is an active Amazon account. Unlike Prime Video, miniTV is completely free and doesn’t require any subscription.
Also, the Amazon app on your Android device needs to be an updated version.
You can enjoy unlimited entertainment without interruption. Further, there is no option to download videos for offline viewing.
Whileย Amazon has just launched its in-app streaming service in India, its competitor Flipkart had already launched Flipkart Video, an India-based OTT (Over the Top) video streaming platform in 2019.
Flipkart Video, an ad-based platform, offers a wide variety of shows, movies and short films for free. All you need is a Flipkart account and a data connection to view content on the app.
