Nothing Phone (2) Launched: Specifications, Price And More

Nothing on Tuesday launched its much-awaited second-generation flagship smartphone, Phone (2), starting at $599.

The dual SIM Phone (2) features a 6.7” full-HD+ LTPO OLED display and comes with a 2412 x 1080 pixel resolution at 394 ppi. It has an adaptive refresh rate that can range between 1Hz and 120Hz, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 1600 nits peak pixel brightness, along with HDR10+ & SGS Low Blue Light certifications.

As far as design is concerned, the smartphone has a gently curved pillowed glass back, 100% recycled aluminum mid-frame, buttons, and sim tray tip, higher-resolution textures, and refined components.

Nothing also made some improvements to its Glyph interface in Phone (2), with the rear side now laced with more LEDs that promise to offer more customization options and functionality, as well as third-party customization.

Further, Phone (2) is powered by Qualcomm’s 4nm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with an Adreno 730 GPU, which is an 80% improvement in performance over its predecessor. It offers up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The smartphone will operate on NothingOS 2.0, based on the Android 13 operating system, and also feature a new monochrome layout as well as the option to remove the app label. It measures 162.1 mm x 76.4 mm x 8.6 mm and weighs 201.2 grams.

On the camera front, the Phone(2) sports a dual-camera setup with a main 50MP primary camera with an f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS), and electronic image stabilisation (EIS). It also has a 50MP ultra-wide sensor with a 1/2.76-inch Samsung JN1 sensor with EIS, a 114-degree field of view, and an f/2.2 aperture.

The front camera features a 32MP 1/2.74-inch Sony IMX615 sensor with an f/2.45 aperture for clicking selfies and making video calls. With an 18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP), the Phone (2) is capable of capturing 4,000 times more camera data than Phone (1), claims the company.

Nothing says the camera on the Phone (2) comes with 2X Super-Res Zoom, Motion Capture 2.0, and supported video modes, which include 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 30 or 60fps, and live HDR at 4K and 30fps. The device can also record videos in slow motion at 480fps and time-lapse videos at 4K resolution.

Additionally, the Phone (2) is powered by a 4,700mAh battery with 45W PPS wired charging, which can fully charge the device in 55 minutes. It also supports 15W Qi wireless charging that can charge the smartphone in 130 minutes and 5W reverse wireless charging. There are no chargers provided in the box.

On the connectivity front, Nothing Phone (2) include Wi-Fi 6, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, NavIC, a USB Type-C port, three high-definition microphones, and a dual stereo speaker setup.

Other features include Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both front and the back, an in-screen fingerprint reader for biometric authentication (as well as face unlock), IP54 water and dust resistance rating, an accelerometer, two ambient light sensors (front and rear), e-compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.

Nothing has promised to offer three years of Android OS updates and four years of security patches delivered every two months.

Price and Availability

The Nothing Phone (2) will be available in two colors: White and Dark Grey. The device will come in three variants, with the base variant (8GB + 128GB RAM) starting at $599.

The smartphone is also available in 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB variants.

The phone will be available in selected markets including the US, UK, Europe, and India.
