Leaked photos suggest that the iPhone 7 may come with a LCD backlight assembly
Pictures leaked by Taiwanese site, Apple Club, suggest that the upcoming Apple smartphone will have a LCD backlight panel along with what looks like a 3D Touch chip. This means we can safely rule out the iPhone 6c, as Apple is planning to keep 3D Touch on its flagship devices. In other words, we are probably looking at the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus.
Among other rumors circulating around the web, Apple may abandon the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in favor of an all-in-one Lightning connector. That will help the new devices achieve between 6.0mm and 6.5mm thinness and a waterproof design. Users will be able to utilise their existing EarPods using a converter. Apple is also expected to release a new wireless earphone.
Further, the smartphones will pack 3GB of RAM to support a faster TSMC-built A10 chip with Intel 7360 LTE modem. The next-gen iPhone 7 Plus will feature a 256GB storage option, and a larger 3,100 mAh battery if a recent report is to be believed.
Apple is also said to be testing models with USB-C, multi-touch 3D Touch, dual cameras and more – and there are the usual rumors of a switch to OLED screens, though not in time for the iPhone 7.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus around September, the usual period for an Apple smartphone launch.
