Foldable Dual-Screen Microsoft Surface Duo Goes On Pre-Order

Last year Microsoft showcased the upcoming Microsoft Surface Duo. This time around the tech giant has confirmed that the dual-screen Android phone will be launched on 10th September and it goes on pre-order starting today. Despite having a generation old internals, the Surface Duo is truly a unique foldable smartphone.

The dimensions of the unfolded device are 186.9 x 145.2 x 4.8 mm while that of the folded device are 145.2 x 93.3 x 9.9 mm. Unlike the Galaxy Fold 2, there’s no external display on the Surface Duo.

How To Pre-Order Microsoft Surface Duo?

The Microsoft Surface Duo is available in Glacier color variants. The base variant of the smartphone with 128GB storage is priced at $1,399.99  or roughly Rs. 1,04,623. On the other hand, the version with 256GB storage version costs $1,499.99 or roughly Rs. 1,12,100 approx.

The Surface Duo can be pre-ordered from MicrosoftStore, AT&T, and BestBuy. Do note that, presently the smartphone is exclusively available in the US.

Microsoft Surface Duo: Specifications And Features

The Surface Duo consists of two 5.6-inch FHD+ PixelSense OLED displays with a resolution of 1800×1350 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3. Once fully opened, the display becomes 8.1-inch in size and attains an aspect ratio of 3:2. Glasses on the Surface Duo are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The dynamic 360-degree hinge helps the custom-designed cables connect the two displays to work together and offer a seamless experience.

Stylus input is also supported on this device. Some exclusive features of Surface Duo are the ability to use two apps side by side, use the second display as a keyboard, and drag and drop content from one screen to the other.

Last year’s, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor powers this foldable smartphone, and Microsoft has further optimized the processor for the enhanced dual-screen experience. Every variant of Surface Duo comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and based on your usage you can get either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

There’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on this device and the smartphone features a single 11MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The camera on this device can record 4K videos at 30/60fps. Sadly, Surface Duo doesn’t support 5G.

To enhance the software experience, Microsoft has optimized several Microsoft and Android apps to utilize the dual-screen layout. Office, Outlook, Teams, Edge, OneNote, OneDrive, Microsoft To Do are some of the optimized and built-in applications on this smartphone.

Surface Duo is backed up by a 3577mAh dual battery and it supports 18W fast charging.
