Will Nokia 9 2017 Flagship Beat Samsung’s Galaxy S8?

Nokia 9 Specifications, Full Features, Prices And Launch Date

If Samsung thought that it had only Apple to watch out for, then it may want to think again. The king of yesteryears mobile maker, Nokia appears all set to give the South Korean giant’s newly released Galaxy S8 a run for its money with its upcoming premium flagship, Nokia 9.

According to a leak obtained by NokiaPowerUser (NPU), the high-end smartphone is expected to have a 5.5-inch QHD OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 GPU. Other leaked specs include two storage options: 64GB or 128GB. While Samsung S8 offers only 4GB RAM of internal memory, Nokia 9 is expected to come with a massive 6GB of RAM. On the camera front, Nokia 9 will come with a 22MP dual lens Carl Zeiss rear camera along with a 12MP front facing camera for selfies, while S8 sports a 12MP single primary camera combined with an 8MP secondary snapper.

Nokia 9 is also rumored to feature a 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support, which is bigger than S8’s 3,000 mAh battery. Also, Nokia 9 will come with IP68 water-and-dust resistant certification like S8, a fingerprint scanner, and iris scanner, suggests the NPU leaks. The smartphone is expected to run Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box.

Nokia 9 may be the first device to feature “Nokia OZO audio” enhancements system claim NPU. OZO Audio is an advanced spatial audio technology that promises to enable any camera or smartphone to do 3D recording and then play it back as if you were there. It allows full 3D audio capture on smartphones with four microphones, spatial 360 audio capture with 3 microphones and spatial audio capture on phones with just 2 microphones. Its Audio focus technology enables accentuating sounds in one direction while reducing ambient sounds and background noise.

While there is no clarity as to how the Nokia 9 looks like, a YouTube channel by the name of “Concept Creator” has released a video based on the sketches released by NPU. Check out the video below:

While the video surely makes the sketch concept look very desirable though, there are no confirmed reports about Nokia 9’s launch. However, it is expected to be launched as early as June this year and arrive in Q3 this year with a price tag of $699 in the U.S. or €749 in Europe.

Please note that the above specifications and features are just rumors, as Nokia hasn’t officially disclosed any information about Nokia 9. Nokia 8 And Nokia 9 Android Smartphone Design Show Dual Cameras, Rear Fingerprint Sensor, Iris Scanner And Bezel-less Design

Nokia 8 And Nokia 9 Android Smartphone Design Show Dual Cameras, Rear Fingerprint Sensor, Iris Scanner And Bezel-less Design

Alleged Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 smartphone sketches reveal bezel-less displays and dual-lens camera

We normally take rumored phones with a bit of caution but, when the rumor happens to be 2 Nokia devices, they need to be reported.

The Former Behemoth

Nokia used to be the biggest phone company in the world. With its only competitor being the Research in Motion owned Blackberry. That too, just in the US. In the rest of the world, no one could even hold a candle to Nokia. Then the iPhone came along and shattered the mobile landscape like never before. It changed the tide to such an extent, that Nokia ended up being bought over by Microsoft.

In 2014, Nokia’s Devices and Services division was sold to Microsoft. In 2016, A Finnish company HMD Global bought a part of Microsoft’s feature phone business and has a licensing agreement that allows it to make smartphones under the Nokia brand. And the expectancy of a full fledged return of the brand has since been eagerly awaited.

Two Powerhouses

The rumored devices in question are the Nokia 8 & Nokia 9Nokia 9. And from the leaked specifications they seem to be powerhouses if rumors are to be believed, both devices will come with Android Nougat 7.0, a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels giving them an approximate 515 pixel density, a massive 12 megapixel front camera and an even bigger 24 megapixel back camera.

Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 are rumored to have Octa-core and Quad-core Qualcomm processor respectively and the screen size with the 8 expected to come in at 5.7 inches while the 9 might be a tad bit smaller at 5.5 inches. Both are expected to sport a humongous 6 GB of RAM. Internal storage options are said to be 64 & 128 GB. Battery are expected to be near the 4000 mAh range.

If these specifications turn out to be true, we might be seeing Nokia compete in the big leagues of Flagship devices. Will the next Galaxy S9 be going head to head against a Nokia ?

Samsung Galaxy S8 Has Been Hacked To Run Nintendo GameCube Games

Samsung Galaxy S8 Has Been Hacked To Run Nintendo GameCube Games

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 already hacked to play GameCube classics

Its no question that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are phenomenally powerful devices irrespective of the variant. Considering their power, someone decided to see if the device could support popular video game titles not originally meant for smartphones.

A YouTuber named GuruAidTechSupport has shown that devices really can support serious video games. Although you might need really tiny fingers to play them with the onscreen buttons. Will these devices run the games with Bluetooth controllers? Sadly that’s a question he didn’t answer. Maybe one of our readers will give it a shot.

Gaming Experience

The games demonstrated on the device are:

  • Super Smash Bros Melee
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

Using an emulator named Dolphin Emulation, the YouTuber was able to run the games on the device. As you can see in the uploaded video, playing the games is a fluid experience. He demonstrated it on a demo device at Target and he managed to not get caught, pretty lucky considering the possible consequences.

Therefore, its no doubt that GameCube titles running flawlessly on a Galaxy S8 is a great news, we doubt we’ll ever officially head the company declare support for these games. If you want to see it for yourself, here’s the video given below:

Moto E4, Moto E4 Plus Specifications includes whopping 5000mAh battery, gets FCC certification

Moto E4, Moto E4 Plus Specifications includes whopping 5000mAh battery, gets FCC certification

Moto E4 and E4 Plus get FCC certification ahead of launch

Motorola started this year with a bang with the Moto G5 releasing recently. With the recent reports, Motorola might just be revamping more of its lineup with two new models with model numbers XT1762 and XT1773 recently gaining Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification – with most people expecting these devices to be the Moto E4 & E4 plus.

Moto E4 and E4 Plus Specifications Leaked

The leak comes from tipster Roland Quandt, who alongside the model numbers reported that these might be the next generation devices to the E series of Motorola. He claims that both the models will feature dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and 16GB of internal storage at a minimum. The difference will be in the battery capacities, with the standard E4 having a 2800mAh battery and the E4 Plus variant featuring a 5000mAh battery. We’re assuming for now, that the screen size of the E4 will be the standard 5 inches with the plus variant being slightly bigger at 5.5 inches. The certification also indicates that these phones might not support fast charging since the FCC document shows the battery charger of only 2.0A.

Rolant also claims that both the 4th generation Moto E twins might have MediaTek SoCs underneath and will run on Motorola’s iteration of Android Nougat 7.0.

The Moto E4  device was also spotted on the Indonesian regulatory entity P3DN which more or less confirmed the details we’ve mentioned above, including the screen size of the smaller device. Are these the follow up to the Moto E3 or a completely new range all together, is something we will have to wait and see.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. iPhone 8: Which one would you prefer?

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. iPhone 8: Which one would you prefer?

Comparison of Specifications:Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. Apple iPhone 8

The rumor mills have been working overtime speculating the specifications and design of the two mostly awaited 2017 flagship smartphones, Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 from the tech giants, Samsung and Apple, respectively. While Apple’s iPhone 8 is months away from its release this year, Samsung unveiled its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S8 on March 29.

The sleek Galaxy S8 smartphone’s standout features are a screen that goes nearly to the edges of the device, and a virtual assistant named Bixby.

Based on what we know about the Samsung Galaxy S8 and rumors that we are hearing about the iPhone 8, let’s have a look at the specifications and features of Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8.

Display

Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8” Super AMOLED Quad HD + display [2960 x 1440 pixels (570ppi)] with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9. It offers a curved glass panel called as Infinity Display by the company along with reduced bezels on the top and bottom thereby putting the content in front and center.

The iPhone 8 models too are expected to have OLED curved screens, which will stretch across the entire face of the smartphone, creating a borderless appearance and larger viewable surface.

Performance

The Galaxy S8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor (in some markets) while being powered by Samsung’s Exynos SoC in others along with 4GB of RAM. As far as Apple is concerned, iPhone 8 is expected to be powered by an A11 chip, which could be built on a 10-nanometer process.

Internal Storage

While the Galaxy S8 comes with 64GB in-built storage which is expandable by up to 256GB via a microSD card, Apple too is expected to offer up to 256GB internally for the iPhone 8, according to rumors.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000-mAh battery, which is expected to last 13.6 days on standby and 33 hours of continuous use before you need to recharge it. On the other hand, Apple too is also reportedly planning to offer a “big battery” in the iPhone 8. However, there are no details yet on the battery capacity.

Home button

Samsung has eliminated the physical home button on its Galaxy S8. The home button is now virtual and lives inside the handset’s software, along with other contextual keys.

As for as Apple, a large number of reports have claimed that iPhone 8 will be the first device not to come with a physical Home button, as the Cupertino giant is looking to expand the functionality of its touchscreen. Instead, users will simply touch the iPhone 8’s screen to navigate around the device, much like many existing Android smartphones. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 will feature an all-new ‘function area’ which will change depending on what app or service is being used.

Iris/Facial Recognition/Fingerprint Sensor

The Samsung Galaxy S8 offers you an iris scanner and a facial-recognition scanner in addition to your fingerprint sensor. Samsung has moved the fingerprint sensor to the back, next to the camera lens, since it has ditched the home button. There’s a chance that you might smudge your lens, as its placement makes it a little more difficult to reach than you might like.

On the other hand, rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 may include facial recognition system rather than iris recognition or could have a mixture of both technologies. Also, many rumors suggest that Apple will keep its Touch ID fingerprint sensor, but move it under the display. In fact, Apple is said to be testing technology that would bake Touch ID directly into the screen and potentially allow users press anywhere on the display to activate its features.

Camera

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 12MP rear facing camera (dual pixel) with an f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. It also comes with rocking Sony’s new IMX333 sensor, which should result in some very impressive uplift to overall performance. The front facing camera is 8MP with an f/1.7 aperture with autofocus.

Apple iPhone 8 is expected to retain the dual-lens camera added to the iPhone 7 Plus suggests rumors. The company is also reportedly working on adding 3D capabilities to its camera, which enable all sorts of augmented reality applications.

AI Assistant

Samsung Galaxy S8 is the company’s first smartphone to include its own newly launched virtual assistant, Bixby. The AI will reportedly be able to use the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S8 to scan your surroundings, surfacing useful information about what it is looking at. This will allow the smartphone to identify the objects it is pointed at – and will be able to direct you to online retailers where you can buy the item. The search functionality will reportedly be closely tied with Samsung Pay. Bixby can also learn your manner of speaking and will do a better job as time goes on learning what you say and how you say it to deliver more accurate results. By pointing your camera at words in another language, Bixby will translate it for you on the fly.

On the other hand, Apple’s Siri is consistently getting smarter and will get some updates this year. While there aren’t many details available, but one concept envisions Siri working simultaneously with the camera to enable near-instant object recognition.

Water Resistance

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 features an IP68 water resistance rating, which means that it can be under water for 30 minutes at depths of up to 1.5 metres, and are protected from dust, dirt and sand.

In the meantime, Apple recently introduced an IP67 water resistance rating on the iPhone 7, which means it is fully protected against dust ingress and can withstand being submerged in water for up to 30 minutes in 1 metres depth. Apple too is expected to boost the iPhone 8 up to an IP68 rating.

Wireless Charging

Reports expect wireless charging as an obvious feature for the Galaxy S8 that was introduced on the Galaxy S6. In order to allow wireless charging support, Samsung had upgraded its device design from plastic to glass and metal on the Galaxy S6.

However, wireless charging could be a new feature for the iPhone 8 if rumors are true. The iPhone 8 is expected to have a revamped glass design to allow for wireless charging support. Apple has also joined the Wireless Power Consortium, which could mean that Apple is going to add inductive wireless charging to the iPhone 8.

USB-C

The Galaxy S8 features a USB-C port. On the other hand, the iPhone 8 too is expected to offer a USB-C port for the power cord and other peripheral devices instead of the company’s original Lightning connector, suggests rumors.

Other features

On the connectivity front, the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, Glonass, Galileo, BeiDou, LTE Cat.16. Also, the handset runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 was unveiled at a special press event in New York City on March 29 and the company started offering pre-orders on its site, as well as on carrier and retailer sites, on March 30. The Galaxy S8 will be available globally starting from April 21 in as many as five colours: Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold. However, if you pre-order Galaxy S8 on Samsung.com, the company has promised to deliver it at your home on April 20.

Samsung is selling the Galaxy S8 for $750, which will vary depending on the carrier you select and region to region. For instance, Verizon is selling the Galaxy S8 for $720.
